Wine Tour

World wine history originates from Georgia, Transcaucasia (south Caucasus) is the territory where the vine has been acknowledged as “culture” and from there the wine vine species have been spread throughout the rest of the world.

Georgian wine is one of the ancient in Europe. The most ancient signs discovered for the present time points to the existence of viticulture and wine-making in Georgia about 8000 years ago, after that Georgia has been acknowledges and recognized as the historical homeland of vine-growing and wine-making.

In our country more than 575 vine species are known. Here vine has always been reckoned as sacred and divine plant. There was time when Mesopotamia was thought to be the homeland of wine, but archaeological excavations carried out in Georgia have revealed more ancient and unique facts.
